LYMPHEDEMA THERAPY

Lymphema is the swelling caused by a build up of lymph fluid.  This can develop as a result of surgery, radiation, infection, traumatic injury or congenital malformation in which the lymphatic system is interrupted.

Components of treatment include:                                   

• Manual Lymph Drainage
• Compression Bandages & Garments
• Skin & Nail Care
• Exercise & Elevation
• Patient & Family Education

Symptoms:

• Swelling of the arms, legs, or trunk
• A feeling of heaviness or discomfort
• Repeated infections
• Fluid leaking from the skin
• Pain or discomfo

Patient Goals:

• Reduce swelling
• Increase flexibility & range of motion
• Improve quality of life
• Decrease pain
• Provide psychological emotional support
